FAQ
Frequently Asked
Questions
What is your style?
My style is warm, direct, and collaborative. I want you to understand not only what I recommend, but why. We will look at symptoms in the context of your health, relationships, work, sleep, and day-to-day life. I listen closely, ask focused questions, and make decisions with you—not for you. The goal is a plan that feels clinically sound, practical, and genuinely aligned with what matters to you.
What happens during the first appointment?
Your initial evaluation is a 60-minute visit where we take time to understand your concerns and what you hope to gain from treatment. We review your psychiatric and medical history, previous treatment, medications, family history, substance use, sleep, and goals.
I will share my initial clinical impressions and discuss next steps with you. These may include starting treatment, reviewing prior records, coordinating with another clinician, or completing further assessment before making a medication decision.
How do you approach medication?
My approach to medication is thoughtful, individualized, and collaborative. I consider your symptoms, medical history, previous treatment experiences, and preferences before making a recommendation.
If medication may be helpful, we discuss the options, potential benefits, side effects, and alternatives so you can make an informed decision. Follow-up appointments allow us to assess how you are feeling and functioning, address concerns, and adjust treatment when appropriate.
Do you assess and treat adult ADHD?
Yes. I evaluate and treat ADHD in adults through a comprehensive assessment of current symptoms, childhood history, and how attention, organization, restlessness, or impulsivity affect everyday life across different settings.
The evaluation also considers overlapping concerns, such as anxiety, depression, and sleep difficulties. When appropriate, I collaborate with a neuropsychologist as part of the assessment process to help clarify symptoms and support diagnostic accuracy.
Questionnaires, prior records, information from people familiar with your history, and attention testing may contribute to the evaluation. No single test determines the diagnosis. Treatment recommendations, including medication when appropriate, are based on the overall findings and your individual needs.
Can you coordinate with my therapist or other providers?
Absolutely. With your written permission, I can collaborate with your therapist, primary care clinician, or other treating professionals. This is especially valuable when symptoms overlap, medical factors may contribute, or you are receiving psychotherapy alongside medication management.
Do you offer telehealth appointments?
Yes. I currently offer telehealth appointments for adults who are physically located in New York State at the time of each visit. Telehealth offers flexibility and privacy, though some needs may be better served by in-person or higher-level care. We will be transparent if that applies.
Do you accept insurance?
Yes. I accept Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield of New York, Carelon, Cigna, Oscar, Oxford, and UnitedHealthcare. Insurance coverage is always verified before your first appointment, so feel free to reach out and share your plan information through the consultation form.
What if I prefer private pay?
The private-pay fee for a 60-minute initial evaluation is $300. Follow-up pricing can vary by visit type and will be reviewed before scheduling. A $75 fee applies to late cancellations or missed appointments with less than 24 hours’ notice; this fee is not covered by insurance.
Who is the practice best suited for?
The practice serves adults seeking outpatient psychiatric evaluation and medication management for concerns such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, OCD, trauma-related symptoms, insomnia, panic, and bipolar disorder. Virtual outpatient care is not appropriate for every situation. If your needs require emergency, intensive, detoxification, or in-person services, I will recommend a more suitable level of care.
